How to get the students to form a good habit in study and how to master a good way to learn is one of the major subjects reseached by many psychoanalists and educators. Many experts and scholars at home and abroad are devoting to the research all the time, and they have achieved great achievement. But to the students from mountain areas, especially to the junior middle students from mountain areas, few of the psychoanalists and experts have made a systematic research into their habits and ways of learning maths. Our research is about the weak link in this research field. Firstly, based on some documents, investigations, some individual cases, and some research methods, our research summarizes the habits in learning maths mentioned in some documents from our country and some foreign countries, and then by using public asking-answering way, we carry out a investigation to some students from Junior One and Junior Three about their habits and methods of learning maths.Secondly,we define the target of research in the individual cases. After talking with some students and following the trail of the students'habits and methods in learning maths, by sorting out and analyzing datas, meterials and information, we come out our research conclusion. We also give some advice on how to get the students to develope a good learning habit. After the research, we reach the following conclusions.1. Most of the students from local mountain areas have not developed the habit to make plans,to read out of class, to ask questions actively in class,to imagine by themselves and to summarize what they have learned. Nearly half of them have not formed the habit to think by themselves.2. To the students of Junior middle school in mountain area, there is an obvious sexual difference in previewing their lessons before class, asking questions by themselves, making notes, answering questions actively, cooperation in study, doing exercises, thinking by themseves and dealing with the maths tests.3. To them, there is an obvious difference in making learning plans, previewing before class, asking questions by themselves, making notes, answering questions actively, reading out of class, cooperation in study, making notes imagining by themselves, thinking by themselves, checking and approveing titles, dealing with examples, doing exercises, correcting mistakes, reviewing after class, thinking twice and summaring.4. There is an obviously level difference on math learning habits and ways of the junior middle students in mountain areas. It is shown in making study plan, preparing a lesson and extracurricular reading, and in self-questioning, listening to teachers, taking note, answering or asking questions actively, thinking independently, and imaging actively. It is also shown in examining topics carefully, how to treat examples and math examination paper, doing exercises, correcting wrong. Besides, it's reflected on doing homework, reviewing, conclusion, and reflection.5. Our research shows that there is an obvious difference between students in their learning habits. In this respect, the students in Junior Three tend to do better than the students in Junior One. And our research also shows that there is such a tend that learning habit will improve with the rising of grade at school. To middle school students, the period studying in Junior middle school is a period for them to develop and perfect themselves continuely. With the development of consciousness and independence, the strenthening of learning awareness and attitude towards study, and the understanding of learning ways, students' learning habits will also be improved.6. By studying the individual cases, we find that not developing a good learning habit is the basic cause which leads to students not to behave well in their study. A good or bad habit does make a great influence on students grades, and the bad habit in learning maths is the important factor to result in the difficulty in learning maths.
