The new curriculum reform will realize the major shift in China's senior high school curriculum from subject standard orientation and knowledge standard orientation to concerning every student's development. In the Politics teaching in senior high school the new teaching ideas should be emphasized, which include autonomous exploration, firsthand experience, active participation, cooperative learning, innovation and active thinking. While the training intended to improve students' thinking ability ought to start from the cultivation on students' thinking and moral quality and proceed step by step. Mind Mapping is a concrete way of divergent thinking. It has been gradually accepted and applied to teaching. It is now one of the ways to promote students' effective learning in the process of combining information technology with curriculum. And it has become an important tool for developing and cultivating students' thinking quality, and guiding students' innovation.This essay is dedicated to exploring the usage and study of Mind Mapping at home and abroad through the research into the necessity of using Mind Mapping in Politics teaching. Its theoretic basis, characteristics, application principles, and application strategies are to be analyzed. Specially, this essay will include teaching experiments and practice, which are meant to give opinions on how to cultivate teachers' and students' ability of use Mind Mapping backed by reasoned argument. Finally, some problems occurring in the application process will be discussed and solutions are offered.
