| Domestic study of English writing, which mainly focused on college students'English writing, begins from the late 1980s, and that of high school students starts relatively late. Over the past decade, more and more researchers fix their attention on English writing of high school, and relevant empirical study has shown an increasing tendency. Although problems exiting in English writing of high school students have been discussed, the survey of English writing status quo was only used as the basis and evidence for further study of some issue, the deep investigation of writing status was rare. During internship, the author finds that there are many problems in English writing of senior one students and their writing status is a worry. Therefore, the study in this thesis has a comprehensive and thorough investigation of the English writing of senior one in this school, tries to find out problems existing in their writing teaching and practice and then propose solution accordingly. Reviewing several teaching methodology at home and abroad and domestic research of the status of English-writing teaching in senior high school, this thesis tries to figure out students English writing situation by conducting questionnaire survey among students of four classes in grade one and interviewing teachers. The results show as follows: Firstly, most students lack of interest and motivation, and even confidence in English writing; Secondly, they have difficulties in vocabulary, grammar, writing for their weak foundation of English; Thirdly, it is popular that students are insufficient in wring skills and strategic of word using. As for teachers, most of them pay less attention on teaching writing but more on grammar and vocabulary. Besides, the result of writing is more emphasized than process, and relevant guiding on writing skills is also insufficient. What's more, they have single ways and contents of teaching feedback.On the basis of above investigation and the analysis of the characteristics of senior one students and learning, this thesis comes up with several strategies. First of all, teachers should be aware of the connection between junior high and senior high school and make up for their weak points in English learning of junior high school in order to prepare them for the new knowledge. Secondly, teachers should try hard to stimulate students'interest and motivation in English learning, changing students'view of"want me to learn"to"I want to learn".Thirdly , improve English vocabulary and grammar teaching so as to break the limit of vocabulary and grammar, and thus solve the problem of weak English learning basis of the senior one students. Fourthly, use reading to facilitate writing and use reading effectively to increase the chance of writing for student. At last, combining with the practical situation of the students and the shortcoming of present English teaching due to overemphasizing final results and neglecting process , I suggest process teaching method be adopted in the teaching of English writing in classroom to improve writing skill of students,In order to certify the effectiveness of the countermeasures, teaching experiment is carried out for half a year. The results show that after the teaching English writing experiment, there is significant difference between the contrasted class and experiment class. That is to say, the proposed teaching English suggestions can greatly improve writing ability of the senior one students. |
