College Students Peer Counseling Theory And Practice Research

It is one of the important goals for colleges in China to promote psychological healtheducation comprehensively. In recent years, college students' psychological health has causededucational circles more and more attention, thus most colleges and universities have set uppsychological health education mechanism. However, the sever fact is that professionalpsychological counseling teachers have great difficulties in meeting the large demands ofpsychological counseling from college students efficiently. In consideration of this objectivefact, more and more colleges pay attention and application to peer counseling which hasgradually become a new form of psychological health education. Peer counseling for collegestudents is aiming at enlightening, comforting and supporting those who really needpsychological help from their peers. It is a new mode as well as one of the most effective waysto implement psychological health education in colleges. Peer counseling has been carry out formore than10years in China. Many colleges are exploring positively and making great efforts topractice which make peer counseling be the important supplemental form of its professionalpsychological counseling. It becomes an effectively way to improve college students'psychological quality. This task is still in its early stage. There are many problems, such as itspublicity, coverage, attention, guarantee mechanisms and proper system for selecting the peercounselor, are needed to be solved. These problems will prodigiously influence the effect ofcounseling.By investigating on the basis of previous research and analyzing of its basic principles,academic foundation, professional standards and integrated contents, I compiled Investigationson the current status of peer counseling among college students to have a clearer picture of thesituation and the issues. This thesis includes4sections. Chapter1introduces the meaning ofthis task; Chapter2elaborate contents and features; Chapter3and Chapter4which focus onpeer counseling's current situation, construction mode and cultivation form are main sections ofthis thesis. These two chapters analyze the progress that we have made in the past and theexisting problems that we need to solve. Combining the experience, as being a peer counselorin Nanjing Forestry University, I try to figure out more feasible and referenced measures forpeer counseling among the college students and also look forward to its brilliant trend. Thisthesis offers the basis of theory and practice to carry out peer counseling in colleges.
