With the widespread recognition and dissemination of a harmonious society and scientific development, and the advancement of educational equity monitoring from the view of concept and principles to the real practice and operation, the educational equity monitoring appears around 2006 in China. The Ministry of Education, local education administration departments and research institutes have been prompting to incorporate the educational equity into policies and visions of different levels of government.Through a systematic review of foreign educational equity monitoring theory and practice, as well as the introduction of the latest development of educational equity monitoring in China, this thesis summarizes the major problems in China that the educational equity monitoring is facing to: firstly, the measure of educational equity monitoring. Secondly, the serious lack of the basic data of educational equity. Finally, the results of educational equity monitoring have not been effectively used. Then the corresponding countermeasures proposed: gradually improve educational equity monitoring indicator system, establish a comprehensive database of educational equity and make effective use of monitoring results. Finally, this thesis takes one example, Changsha University of Science and Technology undertaking the project of Participatory Monitoring & Evaluation on Education Equity and Cooperative Action in Hunan, to illustrate that the current monitoring of educational equity in China has not yet been paid deserved attention. A suitable platform for effective communication between the researchers, policy makers and the public has not been established. The establishment of suitable educational equity monitoring indicator system and continuous monitoring and evaluation of educational equity will have a significant impact on the improvement and enhancement of the educational equity of China.
