The new senior "Chinese Language Curriculum Standards" has made clear that Chinese Language is crucial to aesthetic education. Cultivating students' aesthetic ability is essential to the comprehensive realization of quality education. The teaching of ancient poetry and prose, an important component of Chinese Language curriculum, should give full attention to students'emotional developments and make them nurtured in the aesthetic perception to build up the aesthetic consciousness, the beauty appreciation, the aesthetic perception plus the creativity. Owing to practical reasons, practices and researches on this are not fully treasured in the current teaching.Under the background of new curriculum reform, this paper started with discussing the meaning of cultivating students'aesthetic ability in the teaching of ancient poetry and prose, then analyzing current educational situation and its reason through literature study, survey research and action research methods. According to the analysis, bring forward the strategies of grasping the teaching content correctly, exploiting aesthetic factors, establishing effective teaching process, creating aesthetic environment, exploring ways of scientific assessment as well as enhancing aesthetic power.
