With the development of the new curriculum reform, class evaluation is playing a more and more important role in both teaching and professional growth of teachers. However, the traditional theories and ways of evaluating a class have blocked its own developing way. Gradually, class evaluation is only regarded as a method to assess a teacher by educational supervisors or as a task which has to be finished. For these, it slowly becomes a mental burden for teachers and loses its original value. Meanwhile, teachers'lack of the cognition for the rules, the contents, the methods and the strategies of class evaluation has also prohibited its efficiency and influenced the teachers'professional growth. This article tends to elaborate the necessity, the content, the practical procedure and the meaning of class evaluation from the aspects of its background, rules, contents and ways based on pedagogy, psychology and management. We try to explain to all the teachers that only if we are armed with the right theories, the scientific standards, the flexible methods, the full-scale contents and the proper procedures of class evaluation can we form the excellent art and the complete system of evaluating a class. Then we can finally make class evaluation totally scientific. This issue remedies the lack of the relevant research both in China and overseas. It is hoped to be of some significance for teachers' class evaluation.
