| The research of Task-based Language Teaching emerged in the 1980s. In the year of 2001, the Ministry of Chinese National Education promulgated new"English curriculum standards,"which advocates"Task-based Language Teaching"(TBLT). TBLT helps to overcome the shortcomings of traditional teaching methods and reflects the advanced teaching concepts advocated by new"English curriculum standards". It attaches great importance to the students'self-sensation. With flexible teaching methods, TBLT also helps to cultivate learners'ability of English practical application.Over the last 30 years, many linguists and educators have made a lot of research on this teaching method. They have given detailed statements about the basic theories of TBLT, such as learning objectives, principles and characteristics and so on. However, the research of the application of teaching practice is not yet complete. Compared with 3P teaching method, what advantages does TBLT have?. And this is what the experts and our frontline teachers are most concerned with.For this purpose, the author begins the thesis with a review of the current trends in educational reform, and then analyzes the new features of the textbook used in a junior high school. This paper carries on a thorough analysis of the concept, characteristics, principles of TBLT as well as the concept of tasks. Also the paper gives a detailed statement of the recent studies of the teaching method at home and abroad.Based on a half-a-school-year experiment, the research questions are tentatively answered, that is, TBLT is more effective than 3P teaching method in increasing the learners'learning passion and developing comprehensive language abilities. |
