English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011 Edition)stressed that the compulsory education of English courses should pay attention to the learning process,language learning practice and application.The overall goal is to improve learners' comprehensive language skills through English learning.In order to meet the new curriculum standards,Shanghai version of the Oxford Junior English(2012 edition)added the Project section.The Project section is mainly through the placement of a series of topics related to the unit theme,requiring students to work together,through discussion,investigation,interviews and from the newspaper,media,network and other channels to obtain information resources,etc.to complete the project and display.However,its content is not directly related to the entrance examination,so it is often overlooked.Task-based language teaching method rises in foreign countries from the 1980 s.And it began to have a huge impact in the world.Task-based language teaching method emphasizes “Learning while doing”.Learners will master the language in the process of completing the task,so as to improve the comprehensive language skills.Therefore,this research focuses on the task-based instructional design and practice of Project section,and conducts the action research on Class 8,Grade 8 taught by me,and organizes the project section teaching according to the mode of task-based language teaching method.The author will collect data and analyze data through interview,investigation and observation.The results show that it is feasible to use the task-based language teaching method to improve the students' comprehensive language skills,such as language skills,learning strategies,interest in English learning and collaboration spirit.This study also provides a direction for the effective teaching model about how to teach Project section in junior middle school.
