Teachers'professional knowledge has gotten more and more attention of educational field since 1980s, and there were many studies about the teachers'professional knowledge after the curriculum reform. Ascending the professional knowledge of high school biology teachers will be a great significance for making the quality of biology teachers better. Investigation methods are employed in this study. Pedagogical theory knowledge, curriculum knowledge, subject matter knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge of high school teachers who are graduated in subject of Biology was investigated by questionnaire survey. The survey results show that the professional knowledge of high school biology teachers is not good; there are a certain degree of differences for knowledge of high school teachers who have different school age. The author discussed the conclusions and proposed some suggestions about the development of professional knowledge and specialization of teacher.The paper structure is as follow:Part One: the background,problem,method of this study, and its purpose and meaning.Part Two: the total statement of teachers'professional knowledge, including the connotation of knowledge and teachers'professional knowledge, the structure and classification of teachers'professional knowledge, the theoretical foundation of this study and the method to make the questionnaires.Part Three: the survey result and analysis of the present condition for biology in high school.Part Four: based on the preceding parts, give some constructive advices as for the development of professional knowledge and specialization of biology teachers in high school. Conclusion: it puts forward the problems that need further discussion on the basis of original conclusions.
