Both Dong Jiao Zong (Malaysia) and China are carrying out educational reform, as Chinese language teaching materials reflect educational goals, therefore both countries impose great importance on preparation of their Chinese language teaching materials. Chinese language teaching materials usually include text, language knowledge, homework and reading supporting system. The other systems supplemented and designed around text since it's the main body of the teaching material, therefore the arrangement and content of the text system controls the fate of a language teaching material.This paper studies the text systems of Chinese language teaching materials that are used in Junior Middle School, published by two different countries, each having six volumes respectively, one is Malaysian Dong Jiao Zong version and the other one being the Chinese Ren Jiao version. This paper analyses the text arrangement bodies, text types, text content of these two sets of Chinese language teaching materials. Suggestions are provided in this paper to improve teaching materials of Dong Jiao Zong version. The research methodologies used are comparison analysis, statistical analysis as well as literature review.This paper consists of six parts. Part 1 analyses and compares the characteristics of text arrangement systems between two versions; Part 2 compares category of text selection between two versions; Part 3 analyses the theme of text between two versions; Part 4 analyses the same text;Part 5 analyses the Malaysian Chinese literatures in text book; Whereas Part 6 provides suggestions to improve the teaching material.It is believed that the Dong Jiao Zong arranged its text based on unit capability, they emphasise on the functionality of the language; Chinese Ren Jiao arranged its text based on unit theme, therefore humanity is more prominent in this version. However, it is lacking ancient Chinese literature as its text, and the proportion of such text need to be increased in Dong Jiao Zong version. The Chinese Ren Jiao version should increase the proportion of foreign literatures so that students can be exposed to different cultural philosophies.This paper categorises text content into four main themes which are life philosophy, natural science, nation and social life. After statistical analysis is carried out in similar text between two versions, the comparison between two versions is made. The utilisation of Malaysian Chinese literature has become a major feature of text in Dong Jiao Zong version, therefore, this paper also analyses Malaysian Chinese literatures.Each country has different educational, cultural, and environmental background; their teaching materials reveal their own characteristics. By comparing language teaching materials with different countries, it is possible to improve language teaching materials, and perfection of teaching material arrangement can be achieved.
