Chinese workbook, as an important part of Chinese teaching materials, plays the role which cannot be underestimated in Chinese teaching .Because the Chinese language is a basic discipline that cultivates and improves students' Chinese accomplishment all-roundly.Its basic task is to cultivate the abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing etc, and it is not enough to form these abilities only by the basic training of Chinese classes,but also by making full use of after-class practice, which cannot leave the Chinese workbooks' auxiliary function. Although Chinese workbook is very important, but by the influence of the confusion of the whole teaching auxiliary market at present in our country, the Chinese workbook also has many defects .Therefore,it is necessary to research it and put forward suggestions on improvement.This paper takes two primary school workbooks-- Peking University green card of Northeast Normal University Press and Complete Canadian Curriculum of Popular Book Company as objects of study. The paper gives a systematic study of the two sets of workbooks in macroscope and microscope by the synthesis utilization of literature method, text analyzing and comparison method and interviews method.In macroscope,I would compare the concepts of design, content system, decoration design; In microscope,I mainly study the selected reading and writing exercises systematically . On the basis of comparative analysis, find out the features of two countries'workbooks.In the concepts of design, the outstanding characteristic of Peking University green card,is to pay more attention to the basic knowledge of consolidation and basic language skills,and at the same time, taking the teachers, parents and students into account according to their own demand. Complete Canadian Curriculum,however, especislly places importance on thinking training and actual application ability cultivation, particularly on reading ability cultivation andlanguage knowledge learning and application.Though it also values elementary knowledge training . Based on different ideas, there are more differences than similarities on content system between two countries'workbooks.The similarity is that basic knowledge questions are arranged in both workbooks,and the main difference between them is Peking University green card just represents the contents of mother tongue textbooks and its core task is to serve class teaching of the textbooks. While the content of Complete Canadian Curriculum is independent of textbooks,and self-sustaining. In reading Complete Canadian Curriculum, there are many similarities between them two : the selected articles are followed by a similar number of exercises,and the selected articles pay attention to carrying forward national culture and all reflects the richness, but both have their own characteristics . In writing exercises, The two workbooks both give weight to the combination of writing with reading ,and the richness together with the flexibility of writing forms. But Complete Canadian Curriculum also makes the writing and language knowledge combine.Finally,by comprehensive comparing and analyzing, I propose some suggestions concerning the primary language workbooks ,In concepts of design:Embodyingthe new curriculum standard ' s requirements , focusing on thinking training andthe language practice; In macroscope, binding and typesetting should embody humanistic care, exercises design should be scientific and reasonable (exercises being contextualized, exercises' styles being rich and novel, exercises appropriating repeatability);In microscope,selected articles being close to the children's lives and colorful, writing combining selected articles and languge knowledge, and so on.
