Reading is one of four basic abilites of students, which plays an important role in English learning. However, nowadays, many students don't attach much importance on it and they often show little interest in reading and tend to feel frustrated when faced with difficulty while reading. What's more, the traditional reading instruction is limited and can not keep up with the development of education. Luckily, the application of information technology brings about a complete change of the reading instruction, "the Research on Integration of Information Technology and English Reading Instruction" is carried out with the reform of education in China.The research focuses on how information technology can be applied to reading instruction effectively and efficiently. Perfectly combined with reading instruction, information technoloy will become a good tool for teachers and students and become a new form of teaching material and media. The research begins at analysing the basic theory of the related field at home and abroad. Then the author introduces the common modes of English reading instruction, thus concluding the feasibility and advantages of practice of the thoery. After that, the author explains in detail how information technology can be practised in in-class reading and outside-class reading instruction. Furthermore, the author describes the construction and improvement of information technology resource pool, promoting the integration. Finally, the author conducts reflection of integration, pointing out the necessary points when we are practising integration of information technology and English reading instruction.
