| The preparation and holding of large competitive sports events, which have functions of attracting distant visitors, increasing a city's visibility, improving a city's brand and promoting the transformation of a city's industrial structure, can not only provide a platform for development of some industries, such as tourism, business, transportation, hotels, real estates and so on, but enormously advance sound development of competitive sports and national fitness for the host city. Furthermore, they have a big role to play in developing urban construction and economy of the host city.The 22nd Games of Shandong Province was held in September, 2010 in Zibo. It's an important period for Zibo city to promote reform, opening up and the modernization drive as well as being the end of the eleventh Five-Year Plan and the beginning of Twelfth Five-Year Plan during the 22nd Games of Shandong Province sponsoring period. It is an excellent historic opportunity for Zibo to sponsor the 22nd Games of Shandong Province and provide new motivation for economic development in Zibo.The Games will not only promote the level of sports and cultural development but improve the management level of urban planning and construction. It's a new major task for the development of Zibo to speed up the strategic readjustment to our economic structure and make great efforts to develop the leading and key industries which is consistent with Zibo economic development and needs of Games of Shandong Province. This essay takes Zibo holding the 22nd Games of Shandong Province for instance to analyze its positive and negative effects on the development of Zibo, especially the later influence by using the methods of documentation, expert interview, empirical analysis. Then the author brings forward some suggestions about the influence of the 22nd Games of Shandong Province to Zibo economic development. The conclusions are as follows:1. Physical culture, an important part of social culture, is different from other social and cultural phenomena. It seems to be a simple physical training and athletic competition; however, it can combine political, economic functions together so as to exert great effect on urban economic development. The successful holding of the 22nd Games of Shandong Province deeply explains the idea of"physical culture advances harmony, sports changes life". Large sports activities can improve the people's quality of life while affecting and promoting the construction of a harmonious society.2. Large comprehensive sports games have the characteristics of long-time preparation, large investment, a large amount of people involved and high-level competition. This kind of sports events may have profound effects on the t middle-sized and small cities that host the game.3. To middle-sized and small cities, the holding of large sports events can reveal a city's vigor, promote opening to outside and speed up a city's development, in addition to shaping a city's image, making a city's culture, enriching a city's economic structure, and improving its citizen's quality of cultural life.4. The holding of large sports games is the catalyst of a city's urban modernization. It can enrich the urban cultural life and improve urban spiritual civilization as well as propelling urban construction. The reasons are as follows: to host a large sports game, it is necessary to have modern stadium, convenient transportation, communication and excellent hotel services; furthermore, modern scientific technology and equipments are indispensable. All of these, to a large extent, can boost the development of urban planning, construction and management.5. The holding of large sports games can enhance local residents'awareness of taking part in physical activities. At the same time, it can promote the development of the national fitness plan so as to advance local sports development. |
