The Central Party and the state council attach great importance to the developments of Polytechnic education, especially the enhancement of connotation construction, as its educational scale is expanding nowadays. No.16 Document of Educational Ministry guides for Polytechnics to enhance the connotation construction instead of mere scale expansion, and form a series of national and provincial model polytechnics. By the establishment of these polytechnics, other polytechnics are required to have further developments, ensuring to train high-tech applied talents.To enhance the polytechnic connotation construction requires to set up a system of polytechnic teachers performance management, which becomes an urgent problem for us to face. Although most polytechnics have worked in teachers performance appraisals and accumulated lots of experiences, in fact, there are still lots of problems, such as unscientific indicators of appraisal, more qualitative analysis instead of quantitative analysis, too simple appraisal methods, and lack of scientific and objectivity. Therefore, it is necessary to set up reasonable appraisal standards and systems, which explicit the leading role of teachers in appraisal, so as to reflect the initiative and active nature of the whole teachers.Taking Hubei Three Gorges Polytechnic as an example by Key Performance Indicator(KPI), the thesis studies the polytechnic teachers performance appraisal, in which the Key Performance Indicator and weight come from teachers teaching performance, scientific studies, major construction,and management services, provides the details of the design in performance appraisal, that is, the secondary key performance indicator and weight, and suggests a new methodology on the construction of polytechnic teachers performance appraisal system.The thesis highlights the comparative study of polytechnic performance appraisal by comparing performance appraisal system between the schools of Hubei Three Polytechnic and other polytechnics in Hubei province, and the developing study on KPI which is usually applied in the enterprises and also in polytechnic teachers performance appraisal.
