Research On Agricultural Extension Services Of Agricultural Vocational And Technical Schools

The focus of Agircultural extension is to apply the agricultural new knowledge and technology, new achievements to agricultural production and rural areas universally so as to improve the quality of agricultural workers and productivity of labour, thereby to increase the farmers'income and promote agricultural production and agricultural economic development. Agricultural vocational and technical schools are esssential parts of the agricultural vocational education system with versatile functions of training agricultural talents, doing agricultural scientific research and agro-techinique extension,etc.Since Chinese reform and opening to the world, agricultural vocational and technical schools in Yancheng city has played important part in the process of developing agricultural science and technology and rural economy in Yancheng City. For example, Yancheng Biology Engineering Higher School has founded some bases such as Jiangsu Modern Agricultural Badly-needed Talents' Training Base, Agricultural Machinery Practical Training Base, etc. and strengthened the construction of training base by means of launching the Project of Producer-Research Institute-School-Working-together, and it has established leading agricultural enterprises and developed the projects to guide farmers and improve their lives. The school cooperated with many leading agricultural enterprises such as Jiangsu Fuan Cocoon and Silk Co. Jiangsu Yueda Group, and Shanghai Lulu Co. to help farmers to increase their income and enhance their initiative in agricultural production. Besides, it took active part in the Project of Agricultural Information Service, Innovated the model of agricultural extension services, and succeeded in founding the net work-based college for improve farmers' lives, offering a new way of agricultural information service in the Information Age, and it has greatly improved the comprehensive quality of rural grassroots cadres and farmers, and achieved the target of enhancing the quality of farmers and their income. These work has effectively advanced the process of the local rural comprehensive reforms and made great contribution for new rural construction. Another example might be Sheyang Vocational High School, which took the measures of strenthening training practical talents and building the pratical training base and innovating new agricultural extension, and achieved tangible results, giving a boost to agricultural and rural development in Yancheng City.However, there exists some problems in the agricultural extension of agricultural vocational and techinical schools like the government and schools' insufficient understanding and inadequate investment of agricultual extension services, lacking enough personnels for agricultural extension, imperfect policy and agricultural extension system, etc. To solve these problems, the government and the vocational schools should enhance the understanding of the vocational schools' participating in agricultural extension, establish the mechanism for scientific and technological innovation of agricultural vacational and technical schools, improve the comprehensive quality of the teachers who are engaged in agricultural extension, increase their capital input for agricultural extension services, etc. to ensure the agricultural vocational and technical schools to serve the rural economy and agricultural development better.
