| Chemistry has been developing all the time,and today it is becoming more and more closely linked to the society. Chemistry is more and more widely applied in all aspects and has penetrated into every field of science and all the people's basic necessities of life. Chemistry teaching in senior high schools aims at developing students'consciousness of chemistry application, and enabling them to understand its value. Meanwhile, they can grasp the ability to solve the chemistry-concerned problems in their daily life and work, and learn how to make a social survey and analyze the present and future life from an angle of chemistry. What's more, they can form a correct attitude towards science, and learn to choose a green, healthy, low-carbon, and safer lifestyle, thus promoting the sustainable development of our society.In this paper the author puts forward her own thinking based on the theories and knowledge she commands and the results of the detailed questionnaires carried out in Taizhou No.2 Senior High School on the students'awareness of chemistry application. This paper is mainly made up of five parts. The first part stresses the necessity to foster senior high school students'consciousness of chemistry application; the second part lists some related theory on how to cultivate their chemistry application consciousness; the third part analyzes the existing major problems in senior high school chemistry teaching through the questionnaires among the teachers and students , pointing out what prevents the development of students' chemistry application consciousness, mainly including the curriculum system , chemistry teaching and the evaluation system. The fourth part shows us some principles of how to cultivate students'application consciousness according to its features, namely, the principles on development, subjectivity, diversity, practice and applied situation. In addition, teachers should teach students in accordance with their aptitudes. The fifth part takes real teaching practices as example and elaborates two strategies for fostering the students'application consciousness. The first is to make the consciousness infiltrate the students through teaching activities such as a deeper understanding of the teaching materials, chemistry exercises, and lab experiments. The second is to make full use of varieties of extracurricular activities such as the research learning, chemistry tabloids, and lectures. The effect of the practical researches is summarized and presented through papers and interviews with the students. |
