Interest motivates the learning activity, and it is the key to the success of academic performance. Secondary vocational school is faced with the embarrassing situation of falling quality in enrollment. Poor foundation and negative attitude on the part of students prevents the rising quality in the English teaching process. Thus the thesis aims to improve the teaching and learning effectiveness on the basis of the research on the learning interest's influence on the students'English performance.This thesis first gives a clear definition to the concept of interest in learning English. It points out that interest plays a very important role in English learning, which stimulates students′enthusiasm and inspires their potentials. Then, the research adopts the observational methods, questionnaire investigation and the interview method to conduct a survey on the students'English learning situation. The analyses of the investigation results find the overall status and characteristics of the present interest in learning English on the part of the secondary vocational school students. They don't have a strong interest in English study, they don't want to learn, and also won't learn . Then, the thesis, according to the investigation, analyzes the internal and external factors of the influence on the secondary vocational school students'learning interest. The internal factors include English learning need, strategy and self image. External factors include the learning environment, teachers'teaching competence, evaluation mode and family factors.Then, the precious experience from other teachers and mutual discussions with colleagues, combined with her own teaching experience, the author puts forward the countermeasures on how to improve the secondary vocational students'English study interest. The countermeasures for the learners'part include: 1)have a clear learning motivation; 2)adopt correct attitude towards study;3)summarize the rule of study and find the suitable learning methods; 4) use many ways to study in one's spare time. The countermeasures for English teachers' part include: 1) carefully design the lead-in of class to make the students intrigued; 2)design the novel patterns of activities in order to improve the classroom participation; 3)organize the teaching content close to life; 4) properly integrate the teaching contents to meet student needs; 5)effectively use the multimedia teaching means to improve class effect; 6)increase emotional input to close the relationship between teachers and students; 7)change the evaluation standard,. cultivates students' healthy personality; 8conduct various forms of extracurricular activities to create English learning environment . The countermeasures for the school and the family's part include: 1)put multi-level teaching and small -size class teaching into practice; 2)improve the managerial condition; 3)strengthen the construction of teachers' team; 4)strengthen the home-school co-operation.In the end, the author applied the countermeasures to the teaching process of accounting major, class 3, grade 09 in order to verify the actual effect of the proposed countermeasures. The experiment took the accounting major of Class 1 Grade 09 as the comparative classes within a year of comparative study, and researched the following results: 1)Students' interest in learning is greatly related to the academic performance. 2)A high level of interest in learning produces greater learning motivation, in which students tend to be more active in learning and create conditions to achieve excellent results. 3) Interest in learning and academic performance are affecting and promoting each other. Excellent results can enhance the learning interest of the students, who would have a positive and pleasant emotional experience in the learning activity.
