As an important way of school—based teacher training, mentoring has been used widely in elementary schools and high schools. It promote teaching research and study for both the directing and beginning teacher. So it is a very significant work to do a research about mentoring.Taking a Chinese elementary school teacher and his mentoring as a case,this paper aims to investigate how the mentoring help the new teacher on their professional development by narrative inquiry.Chapter one tired the development of mentoring's history. Chapter two introduced the situation about mentoring of XX elementary school,and show Miss A's mentoring. Chapter three narrated the relationship between mentoring and new teacher Miss A's professional development. According to his unforgettable events,the paper attempt to prove up how the mentoring give support to the new teacher's up growth in their professional life.The last chapter is the part of conclusion and advice. Based on the situation of Miss A's mentoring, the paper finds out the key factors which affects his professional development in mentoring, In order to make the beginning teachers adapt themselves to teaching as soon as possible, based on the conclusions of this study, I make recommendations respectively to both beginning teachers, mentoring and schools they work in.
