Background:Nursing graduate education is an important part of advanced nursing education, and itdetermines the size and the characteristic of the future higher-grade workforce for nursingmanagement, education, research and clinical nursing personals. Great development in graduatenursing education has been achieved in China since the enrollment of postgraduate students inthe year of1992. For a long time, it has being the core of our nursing graduate education that toprovide more and more workforce with capacity of doing research and educating, while theclinical and practical disposition of nursing has been ignored. In order to improve thepostgraduate nursing education, in Jan.2010, the master of nursing specialist (MNS) wasestablished by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, which made areassessment process about the aim of graduates nursing education and made some adjustment tomake sure that more and more practical workforce can take the place of academic ones, it wasalso required that by2015,50%of nursing postgraduate students should be MNS. Since MNSeducation has just started in China and there is no standard education plan for MNS, therefore,how to make plan that suitable for MNS students, especially how to measure the aim andevaluation index of clinical working ability of the graduates became a pending problem.Objective:The objective of this article is to provide some evidence and suggestions about how tobuild the education program and the appropriate method of evaluating the capacity of the nursinggraduates by figuring out what kind of capacity should be obtained and what an evaluationsystem would come into being. In order to achieve that goal, mass of associated research havebeen referred to, and the MNS Act was among them. The core capacity theory and capacitybased education, combined with social scientific way, provides a profound theoretical basis forthis passage. Methods:Literature retrieving, experts consulting and questionnaire investigation and statisticalmethod are used to explore the clinical working capacity and evaluation index of the MNSpostgraduate students.(1) Literature researching method and expert interviewing method were used, a basicstandard of the clinical skills that should be achieved when the students graduate is set up.(2) Theory analysis, literature reviewing and Delphi method are used to devise a specificindex system that would be adopted to make an assessment on the clinical ability of the nursingpostgraduate students.(3) Questionnaire method is used to investigate the clinical working capacity andevaluation index of the MNS postgraduate students. According to these, reasonable adjustment toaim has been made. This article provided evidence for the construction of graduation evaluationindex system.Results:1.According to the first round of questionnaire investigation, the indexes were adjusted usedin the second round of questionnaire investigation, and factor-analysing method was used tostatistical analyze the effectiveness of questionnaires. The result shows that every index is in theideal range, which means the readjusted questionnaires are reliable. The subject used Cronbachα to calculate the reliability of scoring standard, and the result is α0.964, which means theresult of the experiment is reliable.2.The importance of education goals are: clinical analyzing and thinking ability, basictheory and systematic special knowledge, political awareness and work ethnic. More than70%people think that these are very important.15%of people think that scientific research abilityand teaching ability are important or not important.3.The importance of education plan are working habit and working ethnic, clinical workingability training, scientific ability cultivation, teaching ability cultivation and courses learning. More than17%of people regard courses learning and teaching ability cultivation are importantto not important.4.The importance of evaluation index are: checking moral standard, clinical practical ability,regular clinical ability, theory knowledge checking. Up to more than18%of people think theoryknowledge checking is important to not important.Conclusions:1.The education goal of the MNS postgraduate students should be focusing on clinicalanalyzing and thinking ability, the education plan should focus on working habit and workingethnic and clinical working ability training, evaluation index should enhance moral standard,clinical practical ability and regular clinical ability.2.The MNS postgraduate students clinical ability cultivation and checking indexes of thissubject are reasonable, and can provide information for the planning of MNS postgraduatestudents. |
