The transformation of the traditional exam-oriented education and the effective way to replace the operation mechanism of exam-oriented education with that of ability-oriented education are ways to implement ability-oriented education. Targeting at the existing problems in current basketball teaching, this paper will explore the significances of harmonious teaching in basketball classes with peers and experts. Questionnaires and tests are carried out to the objects of this study----40sophomores of Grade2009In traditional Chinese Medicine from Guangxi Traditional Chinese Medical University. This paper carried out all-round study by adopting different research methods such as literature consultation, expert interviews, questionnaire survey, experiment, test, comparative analysis, mathematical statistics and logical reasoning etc.Major conclusions:Adopting the harmonious teaching in basketball classes, the teacher will be seen as the subject and the only information source of learning and practice, while the students are the passive information receiver and the object of the teacher's practice. The teacher can create the most favorable learning atmosphere for the students by adopting harmonious teaching so as to motivate the learning interest and practice habits of the students, to fully play their intellectual and non-intellectual factors and let them study, practice and explore in a harmonious, happy and relax atmosphere. In the basketball teaching process, the harmonious teaching method can highly improve the students'vital capacity and their performances in sit and reach,100meters, standing long jump, vertical jump high touch and1000meters. While the traditional teaching method can only bring a small increase in performance, which largely falls behind the results of harmonious teaching and should be improved reasonably. In the basketball teaching process, the harmonious teaching method can greatly improve the psychological health standard of the students and promote the formation and perfection of their normal psychology, intelligence, sound personality and full energy. Since there are some problems in the traditional teaching method, the results are not as good as that of harmonious teaching. Both methods can greatly improve the performance of one-hand shoulder shooting, one-minute shooting in restricted area within3seconds,28m*4round lay-ups, but comparatively speaking, the increase of harmonious teaching is greater than that of traditional methods. The harmonious teaching is positively confirmed in basket teaching, and has profound and creative significance as well as application values.
