This study conducted experimental research on the use of single and multi-ball combination method in the table tennis elective course. At present, the college table tennis course teaching adopts the traditional single ball teaching mode, which has characteristics such as low exercise intensity, small amount of exercise, monotonous forms. According to the physical health condition of modern students, the traditional teaching mode can not meet the needs of modern education already. The multi-ball teaching method is a significant effect of improving technology practice means which is summarized by China's table tennis world. It is characterized by high exercise intensity, high density, can effectively improve students'the physical fitness and skills. However, conduct multi-ball practice blindly will cause students overload, which is beyond the physical capacity of the students. The teaching method of single and multi-ball combination is not only easy to control the exercise intensity and quantity, but also can improve students'technology and physique effectively. Such teaching method can accord with public sports teaching principle of practicality and consolidation in the current universities.This study studies on the single and multi-ball combination method of table tennis elective course by using literature, questionnaire and other experimental method. It analysis many factors such as effect on student learning, students'interests and exercise load. By understanding the action formation of characteristics of three different stages, the study does a teaching experimental study on the form and function of table tennis technique, which can provide some theoretical basis for the table tennis elective course of university in the future.The results indication is as follow:1. The teaching method of single and multi-ball combination is more conducive to the development of students'physical fitness such as strength and speed and better to the foundation of the specific technology. 2. The teaching method of single and multi-ball combination accords with the requirement of Essential-Quality-Oriented (EQO) Education, more suitable for students'practice load and easy to control the amount of exercise and exercise intensity, which helps to benefitting students' healthy.3. Conduct such teaching method scientifically can help to correct wrong action and form the dynamic stereotype by improving the action of normative and stability.4. Only arrange the exercises proportion of single and multi ball scientifically can effectively use the teaching method of single and multi ball combination and strengthen the study effect and improve teaching quality.5. The teaching method of single and multi-ball combination is better to stimulate students' interest in learning, fully enhance the students' motivation and help to improve the teaching effectiveness and complete the task of teaching.6. The teaching method of single and multi-ball combination helps students to have a deeper understanding of table tennis which can increase students' enthusiasm and actually play a significant role on developing lifelong sports.
