The serious reality of new curriculum reform demonstrates that the traditional model of teaching and research is not outdated nowadays. That teachers are also researchers has been the major trend of teacher education and development. This reality demands urgently school-based research. The facts indicate that school-based teaching and research can be the efficient approach of teachers'professional development.Nowadays, public schools in China are enthusiastically involved in school-based teaching in order to improve teachers'professional development and enhance the teaching quality. Under this circumstance, some progress has been obtained. However, there exists big gap between public schools and migrant children schools. The latter cannot compete with the former in regard to finance and staff. Therefore, it is strikingly worthwhile investigating the current conditions, existing problems, and future development of school-based teaching and research in migrant children schoolsThe goal of this research is to study the elements that influence school-based teaching and research in migrant children schools by investigating the current conditions, analyzing and discussing the existing problems and their causes in two migrant children schools. Thereafter, the author of this research tries to propose some ideas about the future development of school-based teaching and research so that professional development of teachers in migrant children schools can be improved and adapts to the demands of new curriculum reform and teaching quality can be enhanced.In order to get a complete view of this two sample migrant children schools, this researcher employed multiple methods such as interviewing, questionnaire, observation, to investigate seven aspects:the teaching staff, classrooms, teachers'problems, teaching and research team construction, teaching and research style, administration of teaching and research, the problems with the teaching and research.This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter introduces the context of the research, goal, meaning, research plan, methodology and literature review about school-based teaching and research. Chapter two demonstrates the current conditions of school-based teaching and research in these two schools. Chapter three analyzes and discusses the problems of school-based teaching and research and tries to deduce the influencing elements of school-based teaching and research problems. Chapter four tries to propose the future development orientation of school-based teaching and research in migrant children schools.The theoretical meaning of this research lies in that there are very few researches which are closely related to educational practices although theoretical researches about school-based teaching and research are very plentiful. As a result, these theoretical studies are not very strong in directing educational practices. This research is going to combine concerned theories and educational practices of school-based teaching and research so that localized theories of school-based teaching and research which are suitable to migrant children schools can be obtained.The practical significance of this research is that, given the poor teaching quality of migrant children schools, it is very urgent to carry out efficient school-based teaching and research in order to improve teachers' professional development and teaching quality. This research might be helpful to effectively implement school-based teaching and research and improve the education quality of migrant children schools.
