The Research On American University Vocational Guidance

With the process of higher education, rapid expansion of higher education and the rising number of college graduates resulted in increasingly serious problems of employment of college graduates. The problems of their employment have posed a big pressure on the graduates themselves, their families, colleges and community. The maladjustment of the graduates and the omission of colleges are the important reasons. To solve the problems, we must vigorously promote college career guidance. In the United States, the vocational guidance theories have been put forward for a long time, and also accumulated some achievements. By brushing up the history of American university vocational guidance, this paper proposed improvement ideas for career guidance of our colleges.The first part mainly introduced the purpose,significance,ways and methods of the research, the severe employment situation of college students and status of Chinese career guidance.The second part mainly introduced the vocational guidance movement's rise and development process.The third part described the emergence and development of American occupation guidance. A lot of theories have emerged during the process of development.The fourth part tried to analyze its virtues and strengths from various aspects, mainly from the objects, contents, methods, organizations, personnel and characteristics of American universities career guidance.The fifth part aimed at the problems and development of employment of our college graduates and put forward some suggestions to solve the employment problem of college graduates in China.
