As information technology teaching reform in China in the field of education continued to deepen, the application of multimedia courseware in the teaching of colleges and universities are increasingly widely. Considering in the special field of education, the present situation of application of multimedia courseware for teaching in higher normal colleges and the effect is even more concern to the world.The purpose of this study is to explore the information teaching in normal universities under the background of multimedia courseware in the teaching problems and propose appropriate solutions, which based on analysis of the multimedia courseware for teaching theory.This study samples of Xinyang Normal University for school teachers and students, carried out a large-scale survey which can be divided into two parts. Firstly, there is an investigation on the general situation of multimedia courseware for use in schools, which include the type of multimedia courseware, the sources of courseware's, the application penetration of courseware's, teachers and students attitudes towards teaching multimedia courseware application, and the environment of using multimedia teachings. Secondly, the investigation on the teaching effect of multimedia courseware. According to the multimedia courseware in teaching activities of general procedure, the investigation of the teaching effect of multimedia courseware is devided into three parts. For this key survey content, questionnaire for teachers is mainly used for investigation of teachers in the design, production, levels of ability when using multimedia courseware, while student questionnaire is used to reflect the above three main levels of actual teaching effect. Considering evaluation of learning by students more real, student questionnaire questions prepared in this section takes the form of evaluation, and in front of the data and statistics through psychometric testing to verify the validity of the scale.By statistical findings for teachers, students and each other, we find that the penetration of multimedia courseware teaching in Xinyang Normal University is fair and the teachers'attitudes towards multimedia is also quite positive. However, the effect of using multimedia courseware for teaching of teachers is not satisfactory. The problems exist mainly in the following two aspects. First, the teaching environment for using multimedia courseware is not perfect, which performs in the poor lack of system, hardware equipment operation and lack of teaching resource. Second, the lack of multimedia teaching quality of teachers. This deficiency also reflected in the lack of theoretical knowledge, teachers design courseware limited technical capacity, as well as three aspects of using improper methods of courseware. For the status quo, this paper presents four improvement strategies. Firstly, establish and perfect the supervision of using multimedia courseware in the teaching evaluation system. Secondly, establish the scientific system of teacher training. Thirdly, strengthen the construction of hardware devices targeted; improve the effectiveness of management and maintenance in the late. Fourthly, establish the multi-media teaching resource library based on the campus network. Although this study has made attempts and efforts to explore the application of multimedia courseware in higher normal colleges and its policy, there are many shortcomings in research for this article. Thus, during the future research, the following areas must be paid more attention. First, enhance the depth of the theoretical research. Second. Expand the scope of the sample. Third, furtherly improve the evaluation index system. And the last, the improved policy should be further refined and verified by acquiring the school supports.
