Nowadays, with in-depth development of economic globalization, strong economic dependence and deeper level of collaboration between different regions, regional economic integration has become the inevitable trend of global economic development. Actively and vigorously, China has also been exploring and promoting the regional economic integration process. In wake of Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta, Bohai Rim region has gradually risen up as"Third Pole"in China's economic growth. As the core layer of this region, Jing-Jin-Ji area has played an important role in both leading the economy and driving the development of whole Bohai Rim region. Thanks to its regional advantages, Jing-Jin-Ji area has formed a community objectively which is closely linked with all kinds of relationships and resources, such as people, territory and industry etc.. However, no matter in terms of regional planning, industrial distribution or development level, Jing-Jin-Ji area has far lagged behind Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta. Through the analysis of regional variation and economic integration in Jing-Jin-Ji area, this article tried to discover the problems existed during the economic integration process, and furthermore, provide feasible solutions to it.Firstly, it illustrated the existing regional economic variation and its influence on regional economic integration in Jing-Jin-Ji area, through the description of current economic situation in terms of output per capita and industrial structure difference in regions and between, as well as its regional economic development features, during"the 10th Five-Year Plan"and"the 11th Five-Year Plan"periods. Secondly, by using the method of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), it analyzed and compared separately the effectiveness of macroeconomic developments in Jing-Jin-Ji area and between during those two periods. It also researched on the current situation and trends of macroeconomic developments with the background of regional economic integration. Thirdly, it set up a regression model by employing econometric methods, which was used for analyzing the factors and their influence on regional economic integration in Jing-Jin-Ji area. Finally, based on the analysis and demonstration, it summarized the problems during the regional economic integration in Jing-Jin-Ji area, and proposed some reasonable advice and suggestions.
