With the advent of the era of a knowledge-based economy, the concept of pulling economic growth with the shere scale and quality of resources, physical capital and hardware technology has shifted to one relying on the excavation, accumulation and utilization of knowledge or useful information. Knowledge-based enterprise, as an important product of this era, has become a significant subsystem in current economic and social development. As the carrier of knowledge, human capital owners are the primary resources of a knowledge-based enterprise where accumulating and sharing knowledge is the major characteristic. They should be regarded as the primary contributor to the enterprises'performance in that they constantly create far more surplus value than does physical capital compared with traditional enterprises whose measurement of enterprise performance mainly depends on physical capital. Unlike human capital in general sense, human capital in knowledge-based enterprises is characterized by knowledge and skills. With the status of characteristic human capital gradually rising in knowledge-based enterprises, it has become increasingly important to create incentives by letting human capital enjoy residual property. Based on the abovementioned reasons, a study has been carried out on the effects of residual property arrangement on human capital contribution. The study takes knowledge-based enterprise as its research object and analyzes the research system constituted by such factors as contents related to knowledge-based enterprise, the form of residual property allocation and human capital contribution. Supported by empirical work designation, the study carries out an empirical analysis on the influence of residual property arrangement on human capital contribution. The details are as follows: Samples are drawn from 50 knowledge-based enterprises in electronic information, computer software, communication and bio-pharmaceutical industries. Data associated with variables in knowledge-based enterprise performance, residual property allocation, and human capital contribution are collected and sorted. Factor analysis is first conducted with statistical tools for a comprehensive evaluation of enterprise performance to compare the the contributions of human capital and physical capital to provide hard evidence for the influence of human capital on residual property allocation. Then correlation and regression analyses are carried out on four varibles on ESP, CM, MS, ESO, which fully demonstrate the relationship between residual property and human capital contribution. Through the analyses, it can be discovered that ESP, MS and ESO in knowledge-based enterprises have a significant impact on human capital contribution while the impact from CM is not noticeable. This verifies the research hypothesis and model construction of the present thesis, thus facilitating further research on knowledge-based enterprises'residual property allocation as well as the adjustment and improvement of their internal governance structure, and promoting innovation within incentive-oriented knowledge-based enterprises.
