With the development of global economy and free trade, the impact of traditional tariff barriers and non-tariff barriers has been weakened in international trade. Instead, the green barriers, as a kind of new non-tariff barrier, are prevailing in a lot of countries, especially in developed countries, because of the higher stealth, lower diaphaneity and formal reasonability. With the development of electronic technology and information technology, electronic garbage has becoming a global problem. As the electronic products updating is speeded up in developed countries, the problem of electronic garbage is also becoming serious day by day. WEEE, ROHS and EUP directives are given birth in the above background. Although the main purpose of the three directives is to reduce the adverse affections of electronic garbage on district circumstance and resource, the strict environment protection standards have become the trade barriers to developed countries. The trade of electromechanical products is one of largest industries in international market. The export of electromechanical products plays an increasingly important role in the world economy. In recent years the export of electromechanical products to EU has been increasing sharply. The structure of electromechanical products has obviously improved. Export products processing value-added and further technological content has enhanced too. Despite of these achievements, China's export of electromechanical products also suffered a set of green barriers that set by EU, particularly the WEEE, ROHS and EUP directive, which bring great loss to China's electromechanical products exportation. There is a great need for industrial and academic circles in China to study and resolve subjects which are how to think about and deal with these three EU directives correctly, and how to strengthen the core competitive power of electromechanical products and succeed in breaking through the three green barriers. Therefore, this paper starts research with the causes, forms and characteristics of green barriers, probes the background, content, characteristics and country effects of EU's three "green directives". Then it objectively analyzes the current situation of China's electromechanical products exportation to the EU and the impact of EU's three green barriers on the export of China's electromechanical products. On this basis, it makes an empirical study on these three directives'impact on China's electromechanical products by introducing the econometric method of gravity model. And the empirical study results the conclusion that these three directives have negative impact on China's electromechanical products exporting trade in a short term. Finally, according to the theoretical analysis and empirical study, this paper puts forward relevant suggestions and effective countermeasures from several different angles, such as government, industry organization and enterprise.
