Strategies Of Urban Agriculture Development In Wuxi City

The transformation of agriculture from traditional to modern to higher-level is a common trend of agricultural development all over the world. Urban agriculture is one of special and important types of modern agriculture. Following with the rapid development of urbanization and integration of rural and urban, urban agriculture has a more and more prominent position, and Performs a very important role in the construction of our country's agricultural modernization.The present paper studied the strategies of urban agriculture of WuXi city based on applying of theory and analyzing of practice and acquired following achievements.Firstly, it studies the theories of urban agriculture, summarizes the development background, theory origin and basic functions of urban agriculture.Secondly, analyses the development patterns of urban agriculture in countries as USA, Japan, Singapore. And analyses the enlightenments of the development of urban agriculture in China.Thirdly, the construction contents of Wuxi urban agriculture were put forward after analyzing of basis and development status of Wuxi urban agriculture in views of history, economic and social.Fourthly, driving factors faced by urban agriculture development were pointed out based on analyzing of practical measures, existing practices and achievements.Finally, development countermeasures of Wuxi urban agriculture were put forward after analyzing of the opportunity, development emphases and direction.
