Nowadays, service industry has become to be the largest industry all over the world and been considered to be the continuously momentum to push the world's economy forward. As a rising star in central china. Nanchang has a better picture in economy with optimized structure of industry. Compared with the developed areas in the world, however, the development level of service industry in Nanchang needs to be improved. Consequently, to develop the modem service industry has important strategic significance on promoting the industry structure of Nanchang.In this paper, the author made research on modern service industry in Nanchang with methods of comparative analysis and empirical analysis. Firstly, the domestic and international research and theory about modern service industry is elaborated. Secondly, the status of modern service industry in Nanchang is analyzed as well as its problems and influencing factors. Then the author selected a software outsourcing company in Nanchang to introduce its general situation and present a SWOT analysis. Finally, suggestions for enhancing the development of modern service industry in Nanchang are propounded based on the empirical research. People need to change understanding of the service industry, transform the government functions, build up policy platform, adjust the industrial structure, transform the development mode, set up the financing channels, To speed up the process of urbanization, expand the space for development, widen training methods and accelerate the cultivation of talents to make the modern service industry develop better.
