A Research On The Developmental Mode Of IPTV In China

The 26th China Internet Development Statistics Report was published by CNNIC On the 15^th July, 2010. The report showed that population of netizens in China had reached 420 million and the internet penetration had increased to 31.8% by the end of June, 2010. By the end of the first half of the year 2010, the number of the Internet video users had reached 265 million, and the usage rate increased from 62.5% in the end of 2009 to 63.2%. 25 million users joined into the team of internet video using, which had an increase of 10.4%. The view shown in the report was that the internet video in China would greet a new opportunity to develop with the deployment and implement of the national triple play policy. As a new medium, IPTV meets the need of information diversity, which is personalized and interactive. IPTV will have a bright future by virtue of the triple play policy.Based on the research on the development of IPTV at home and abroad, the concept of IPTV has been elaborated in this thesis. And the reasons of the development of IPTV in China is analyzed and concluded, which include China's vast territory, large population, great cultural differences, great urban-rural difference and uneven development in various regions. Some representative developmental modes of IPTV in china are described in this thesis by classifying IPTV according to the receiving terminals. The author makes a conclusion about the issues of the development of IPTV in China in terms of policies and regulations, the operation mode and the industry chain by analyzing the problems lying in those representative modes, puts forward some practical solving strategies to those problems to provide a reference for the law of development of IPTV in China. By the end of the thesis, the author expounds the development of IPTV in china in the future from three aspects which include content industry chain, triple play and collaborative development with traditional TV.
