Research On The Characteristics Of Urbanization And Sustainable Development

Urbanization is the outcome of the economic and social development. Nowadays, urbanization of the developed countries has been nearly completed, whereas most developing countries are still in the middle stage of urbanization. Rapid urbanization in developing countries has led to many social and economic issues, including the widening social gap between rich and poor, expansion of urban-rural divide, resources shortage and environmental issues etc. Therefore, how to achieve a rapid and sustainable urbanization has become one of the most important topics of academic studies.This article revealed the mode and circulation mechanism of sustainable urban development based on the urbanization in the open economy theory. In the third chapter empirical analysis was used to study the features, the development model, the dynamic mechanism and constraints of the developed city, Ningbo. The fourth chapter is the research on the level of sustainable development in Ningbo city. The empirical analysis, which chose thirty indicators from the economic, social and resources environment sub-systems, mainly used Principal component analysis method to research the sustainable development level and constraint factors of Ningbo city. The conclusion is that the sustainable development in Ningbo should adhere to the low carbon and energy saving development mode. Meanwhile, the article gave the suggestions for the sustainable development in Ningbo from city management, institutional structure and other aspects.
