For a long time, the agricultural foreigen trade has played an important role in China's foreigen trade. As well, the labor-intensive agricultural trade in China's agricultural foreign trade has occupied a pivotal position. However, with China's labor-intensive agricultural exports continuing to rise, more and more major importing countries have been implementing green trade barriers, hindering the normal export of China's agricultural products, which greatly affected the export competitiveness of China's labor-intensive agricultural products.Though the green barriers to trade are a series of trade measurements for the importing country on the grounds to protect environment, human, animal and plant life, their purpose has evolved to tools of trade, in order to obstruct or restrict imports and to protuct domestic industries and markets. With the development of trade liberalization, the global environment is deteriorating, and there is growing attention to environmental protection issues. At the same time, green regulations and standards of technology and relative measurements are common and increasingly sophisticated, and a variety of green trade barriers are also emerging. The export of agricultural products which are absolutely important to one contry is bound to be seriously affected. The agricultural products are divided into two types in the thesis: one is the land-intensive agricultural product; the other is the labor-intensive agricultural product. This thesis selects the labor-intensive agricultural products wich are affected most severely by the green trade barriers to make a study, mainly because the issues in the green trade barreiers in the labor-intensive agricultural products are related not only to the agricultural sustainabale development in China, but also to farmers'income and the stability and development of rural economy.By normative analysis, this thesis has solved the question "what is the the green barrier to trade?", and then the thesis analyzed the popular reasons for the prevalence and the trade effects of the green trade barriers. By quantitative analysis, the thesis nanlyzed China's labor-intensive agricultural export status, the influence of green trade barriers to China's labor-intensive agricultural export and the reasons for why the export is influenced. Lastly, some strategies are proposed to response to green barriers to trade. The specific logical ideas are as follows:firstly, the noun of Green Barriers to Trade is defined and the trrade effects and the reasions for the prevalence of green trade barriers are analyzed. Secondly, the status of China's labor-intensive agricultural export is introduced. Thirdly, the thesis sets forth the influence of green trade barriers to China's labor-intensive agricultural exports and analyzes the the reasions for why the exports are influenced. Last but not the least, the thesis proposes some strategies to response to green barriers to trade.Based on the above analysis, the thesis puts forward the following conlusions:Firstly, the effects of green trade barriers on exporting countries are both static and dynamic. The static effects are the effect of number restrained, cost-effectiveness, demending effect, the deterioration effect in trade terms of export and the reduction of social welfare. Well, from the dynamic point of view, exporters keep upgrading technology to breakthrough green trade barriers and importers unceasingly set new green trade barriers, which make the green trade barriers dynamic to exporters.Secondly, in China's labor-intensive agricultural export, vegetables and fruits, aquatic products, and livestocks have a major percentage. They have an apparent feature of comparative advantage. In the year of 2010, the ratios of their respective are 37.56%,30.62%,16.27%, and the total percentage is 84.45%. So, when our contry makes efforts to develoment agriculture comprehensively, vegetables, fruits, aquatic products and livestocks should be given greater attention to develop.Thirdly, there are both international and domestic reasons for why China's labor-intensive agricultural export is blocked by green barriers to trade. China should find the ways from its own reasons to breakthrough green barriers to trade.Lastly, the thesis sets forth some strategies in the four levels of farmers, firms, agricultrual associations and the government to breakthrough green barriers to trade. By the limitations of the author's knowledge, there are some weak points:first, the thesis has a lack of empirical research in the specific influences of green barriers to trade to labor-intensive agricultrual export; second, there is a lack of study on the influences of each form of green trade barriers to labor-intensive agricultural export.
