The equipment manufacturing industry is always a pillar industry, and Shaanxi is the important base of it in China. In 2009, the Shaanxi provincial government promulgated Shaanxi province equipment manufacturing industry revitalization planning outline, and suggested speeding up to enhance the industrial concentration degree. One of the most important measures is to enhance competitiveness of the industry through the industrial concentration degree and technological innovation. So, how is the concentration degree of Shaanxi equipment manufacturing industry and technological innovation respectively? Does the industrial concentration degree influence technological innovation performance? The resolutions of those questions have an important significance upon the sound development of Shaanxi equipment manufacturing industry.First of all. in the thesis, the industrial concentration degree and technological innovation performance of the equipment manufacturing industry are defined on the basis of related literature. Secondarily, change trends of the industrial concentration degree and technological innovation performance of Shaanxi equipment manufacturing industry are analyzed with the date of 2000-2010 of equipment manufacturing industry. Lastly, the influence of the industrial concentration change upon technological innovation performance is studied through correlation and regression. The discoveries of this research arc the following:Firstly, the trend of the concentration degree of the whole Shaanxi equipment manufacturing industry is steady and going up. and the seven big industries exist obvious differences. The concentration degree of transportation equipment manufacturing industry, ordinary machinery manufacturing industry and the mechanical manufacturing industry are raised, while metal products industry and electronic and telecommunication equipment manufacturing industry have varying degrees of decline.Secondly, from the perspective of dynamic change of the technological innovation performance of the whole Shaanxi equipment manufacturing industry, the total factor productivity and technological progress show a rising trend, while technology efficiency has the downward trend. From the perspective of dynamic change of the seven big industries, the total factor productivity of ordinary machinery manufacturing industry and transportation equipment manufacturing industry is visibly increasing, while electronic and telecommunication equipment manufacturing industry, instrument and meter industry, and cultural office industry fall in varying degrees.Thirdly, from the perspective of dynamic change, the tendencies in concentration index of Shaanxi equipment manufacturing industry, total factor productivity and technology efficiency are almost the same. From the results of correlation analysis, there exists significant positive correlation between industry concentration and technology innovation performance. The influence of the industrial concentration upon technical efficiency is stronger than the one upon technical progress, but with the obvious discrepancies in different influence industries.
