Since China joined the WTO, the circulation of reform and development has entered a new period, as a modern supermarket chain operation and profit pattern, a kind of new formats, its development has received extensive attention from societies and the development trend is prosperous in recent years. However, with the expansion of business and profits growing, inventory internal controls expose some problems. High inventory cost has become a key factor restricting development of supermarket chain.Inventory is an important liquid assets, it will occupy many cash flows. Generally speaking, inventory cost has about 60% proportion of total assets. How to manage and use inventory is directly related to enterprises'funds using level and assets operation efficiency. Currently, supermarket enterprise has expanded rapidly in the development process with many problems, especially confronted with high inventory costs. Therefore, in order to accelerate the development of enterprises in supermarkets, solving high inventory cost is an urgent task.Based on the related theoretical research, this dissertation has discussed the internal control problems about Step By Step Company, such as supermarkets stock management mode backward, inventory management organization being not comprehensive, existing many loopholes, bad supermarket distribution center in the process, which leads to high cost and unreasonable accounting treatment. Confronted with the existing problems and the clauses, the dissertation puts forward the following suggestions to improve Step By Step Company's current inventory management mode, such as accelerating inventory management informationization construction, improving management efficiency, reducing inventory cost, improving inventory management organization, correctly handling the procurement department and distribution centers, strengthening the business relationship between the business department and the financial department about information communication, etc, and putting forward some form of responsibility center, forming good inventory management, all of which will lay a solid foundation for the expansion of Step By Step Company.
