Research On Energy Efficiency And Its Influential Factor In Zhe Jiang Province

With the development of reform and opening up, China's rapid economic growth is accompanied by sharply increase of energy consumption. As a result, the experts are concentrated to how to improve energy efficiency. It's worth noting that Zhejiang Province plays an important role in economic growth as well as energy consumption. But it faces the difficulty of shortage of energy reserves. In fact, its economic growth is largely replying on importing energy from home and abroad. The contradiction between supply and demand of energy is prominent. And this problem inevitably threats to the sustainable economic development of Zhejiang. Based on the practical situation, this paper carries on research of energy efficiency and its influencing factors, and comprehensively explains energy efficiency features, meanwhile clarifies the formation mechanism of Zhejiang energy efficiency changes. This paper is contributed to improve of energy efficiency and relieve energy constraint.Using the statistics annals of Zhejiang province of1998-2009which provides energy consumption data, this paper is based on energy economy theory, productivity theory, industrial economy theory, modern econometric theory and method. In the view of the qualitative and quantitative, horizontal and vertical analysis method of combining the Zhejiang province and absiding by the "Define the concept-Analysis the situation-Evaluation of efficiency-Analyze the reasons-Propose the solution" research ideas, this paper systematically analyses the present situation, trend of change and the influencing factors which include Economic factor, Energy factor and Social factor and so on.This whole thesis could be divided into six sections,of which the first one is introduction,including the background of the main ideas,meaning and literature reviews and presenting the structure and main ideas of the artical;the second is about the theory applied in this thesis,working on energy efficiency and measuring indicators,modeling all-factor measuring indicator of energy efficiency on basis of DEA instrument,describing all determinant of energy efficiency and establishing the system of energy efficiency rating indicators;the third section is about the current energy efficiency situation in Zhejiang province and comparison between situation in Zhejiang and ones outside Zhejiang,core part of the thesis,applying both single-factor and all-factor energy efficiency measuring indicators to analyse the energy efficiency situations in and outside Zhejiang and of industies and evaluate the current energy efficiency situation;the forth section.based on the analysis of current energy efficiency situation,talks about the characters of changing of energy efficiency in Zhejiang quantitatively.and predicts the future trends of changing of energy efficiency in Zhejiang;the fifth,based on the system of evaluating indicators,applying factor analysis, setting up MLR models, analyses extent and direction of impact on energy efficiency by different determinant;and the sixth, supported by quatitative analysis, draws conclusions and offers suggestions on policies.By theoretical and empirical reserch, this thesis has come to five conclusions.Conclusion1:There're no universal and accurate definitions for energy efficiency, different indicators, due to different theory backgrounds, measurements and applying fields, usually lead to different results of energy efficiency, and of all factors impacting energy efficiency, economic development, energy development and social development are most basic ones.Conclusion2:Energy efficiency has gone fluctuating, of which the curve goes upward,downward and upward again, with the whole trend rising, and the level of energy efficiency in Zhejiang is above national level, but is mediumly rated in eastern area and has potential improving space,compared with neighbor area with high energy efficiency.Conclusion3:Differences of energy efficiency between different industries loom large, and improvement of whole energy efficiency in Zhejiang comes mainly from the one of energy efficiency of industry.In last5years, the trend of energy efficiency in every city is rising, and differences of energy efficiency is enormous, which makes lessening the differences the best way to promote energy efficiency in Zhejiang.Conclusion4:According to the results of breaking down charactors of changing of energy efficiency in Zhejiang, efficiency effect, especially industry efficiency effect,is mainly reponsible for the changing and structure effect goes against lowing down energy efficiency,with power limited. The prediction of trend of changing of energy efficiency, by different ways, shows in coming11years, the energy efficiency, at current energy effieciency changing pace, will have reached to15,100yuan per ton of standard coal, which means improvement is not good enough to support sustainable economic development.Conclusion5:Of all the factors studied emperically, economic development, technical advancement, energy price and disposable income of urban resident have positive effects while industry structure, openness, energy consumption structure, dioxide sulfur omission and unemployment rate have apparent negative effect.The inventive points in this thesis are as follows:1) in the framework of productivity,analysing the current situation of energy efficiency in Zhejiang and making comparison between situations in and outside Zhejiang, judging energy efficiency in Zhejiang from different perspectives and reflecting the general level of Zhejiang's using of energy;2)establishing a new set of energy-efficiency-rating indicators,rather than using some simple indicators,producing quantatitive results by inputting data available to evaluate energy efficiency in Zhejiang and determinants,making empirical analysis more conclusive;3)applying multiple instruments to analyse characters of changing of energy efficiency in Zhejiang,and predicting trend of changing of energy cfficcicncy.making results more reasonable and reliable;4) applying fator analysis to discuss impacts on energy efficiency in Zhejiang imposed by economic development technical advancement,industy structure,policy of openness,structure of comsumption of energy,price of energy, unemployment rate,omission of dixocide sulfur and disposable income of urban resident,and the last three factor just make a try to provide theretical and empirical basis for figuring out new ways of promoting energy efficiency in Zhejiang.
