Leisure fishery is an emerging industry. It has been developing stronger in recent years in our province, and playing a very important role in fishermen's employment opportunities, community's consumer products upgrading, as well as fishermen's income increase, so it has become a new area to grow in our fishery. There are many advantages for Jiangxi to develop leisure fishery, good natural environment, solid fishery infrastructures, and supportive government policies and guidance. However, there are many areas for improvements at the start up stage. So we must understand the current situation, status, follow the government guidance, plan scientifically, invest more in fund and technology, enhance the talent building to develop the leisure fishery in a scientific and regulated way.This article appraised Jiangxi leisure fishery development by survey, analysis and theory comparison to identify the advantages, challenges and opportunities, provide advises and references for government in making the development strategy of leisure fishery.
