Study On Functional Classification And Analysis Of Southern Xinjiang Towns

An early start on the research of urban functional classification,urbangeography, economics and sociology the functions of cities and economic,industrial development have began since the1920s, and proposed the basictheory of the urban functional classification. Many scholars have proposed aclassification of indicators and methods.The latest international start on theclassification and evaluation of urban functions, and most of classification andevaluation are carried on the major cities and a regional urban's economicactivity, but because of differences in local conditions,till now with regard to theclassification of urban functions has not yet formed a unified standard.In southern Xinjiang economic development lags behind and the regionaldevelopment is relatively slow and the function of cities and towns is weak andsingle. Till now there are still no relative research on the urban functionalclassification and evaluation system of the Southern border town. Objective andsystemic of urban evaluation is conductive to various cities and townsunderstanding their own level of urban functions. In order to promote the socialand economic development of the town,they should understand their ownstrengths and gaps by comparing with the different types of towns. Therefore,weshould establish an orderly and efficient urban architecture, to improve the urbanfunctions.In this paper, from a geographic point of view, with the use of qualitative andquantitative methods we mainly analysis the southern border town functions' typesand livable function, intensive radiation function, environmental function, and thescience of innovative features, evaluate these functions and optimize the countermeasures.The main conclusions of the paper are as follows:(1) The scale structure of urban system in the southern border region is divided into nine levels,through the study of the divided grades,a conclusion canbe found that the scales of the southern Xinjiang towns' system are imbalance, atown with the population greater than10×105is nearly zero. Population ismainly concentrated in large and medium-sized cities of Korla, Aksu, Kashi City,and there is very little population in Ruoqiang County, Qiemo County, Yuli andBachu County, distributing unevenly.(2)Through the level difference of the urban city system's growth pole effect,the southern Xinjiang border towns can be divided into four types,for examplecompound growth pole, secondary industry and services sectors growth, veryservice-based development growth, industrial and agricultural growth pole.(3)With the use of1994-2010towns tertiary industry and the proportion ofsecondary industry ratio, the analysis of the development stage of the urbanfunctional structure shows that various years the third industry and the secondindustry's radio change slightly,the whole trend is downward. Because theSouthern border region is the first industry-based,it does not meet the industry asthe level of competitive industries. The tertiary industry rely mainly onsmall-scale commercial and transport industry, and it have not formed based onlarge-scale services in the true sense of the tertiary industry.(4)Through the study of the functional structure of the southern border town,the three industries of the towns is not reasonable, there are some differences inthe absolute amount and composition of the low level of overall industrialstructure, lack of development of secondary and tertiary industries. Urbanfunctions of convergence strong, lack of divergence, the division of functions isnot clear and the degree of urban functions specifically are inequal and low,especially competitive industries are not prominent and the industries belongingto strong functions are even rarely, It is difficult to play the leading role of citiesand towns of rural. (5)From the study on the evaluation of the urban functions we can obtainethat Shache County, Kuqa County, Korla City, Shaya, Moyu County, the city ofHotan, Wensu and Awat County and other the overall level of counties and townsfunction are in a leading position in the southern; Aksu City, the city of Kashgar,Baicheng, Wushi County, Shule County, Yecheng, Bachu County, and LopCounty's level only second to the above cities and towns, is the development ofurban functions in the southern border town of counties; HeShuo County, AktoCounty, Yingjisha county and Jiashi county are less developed cities and counties;Other towns function of the level of development is lower than the the Nanjiangaverage, and they are less developed county in the southern border region.
