The2010Central Document No.1proposed for the first time the concept "new generation ofmigrant workers", then putting academic research of migrant workers into a newer areas. Comparedwith the first generation of migrant workers, the new generation of migrant workers has many differentgroup characteristics. Along with their integration into the city, they promote the construction of awell-off society and the progress of civilization of China. However, it is so clear that the new generationof migrant workers has many problems in their career development, such as blindness and littleunderstanding of their own strengths and the job market, which lead to many setbacks for them in theprocess of choosing an occupation, and in the long run, restricting them from playing a role in theconstruction of the city.To solve this problem, the paper adopts documentary research, questionnaires, interviews andcomparative study to study the orientation of employment of the new generation of migrantworkers. This survey is based on "young migrant workers" research topic of the United Nations-SpainMillennium Development Goals in China. The survey extracted386new generation migrant workersfor the survey from several regions in Changzhou. The results are as follows:(ⅰ) The new generation of migrant workers in Cangzhou, Hebei province, still have a low level ofeducation and vocational skills remained to be improved for a large degree.(ⅱ) The new generation of migrant workers shows relatively high expectation of incomes but lackof knowledge for their own abilities and the marketplace.(ⅲ) On the future development of career, the new generation of migrant workers shows a tendencyof outer-flow.(ⅳ) They favor to choose jobs in big cities closely near home with their parents.(ⅴ) Lack of skills and experiences is the most important reason of a low level of jobless for the newgeneration of migrant workers.(ⅵ) Choice of employments from the manufacturing industry and service occupations has been themain trend of the new generation of migrant workers, and there are some significantly genderdifferences.(ⅶ) The generation of migrant workers has higher demands and desires for social security, safeproduction environment and free room and board. In summary, the orientation of employment of the new generation of migrant workers has not beenough to mature, and their employment skills need to be enhanced especially for the female migrantworkers. And the training is still inadequate for these workers. To solve these problems, from the view of creation of specific training, the study firstly developedsome courses including the career plan training, the work preparation training, the characteristic skilltraining and entrepreneurship training, to help the new generation of migrant workers. And then, thestudy proposed some operational proposals for the transformation of government functions including deepening of the employment system reform and labor-intensive industries, expanding the capacity ofemployment to social security coverage, considering the new generation of migrant workers into therange of social security, offering vocational-skill training systems to provide a theoretical basis and avalid reference for the government and related departments to solve the problems in job seeking for thenew generation of migrant workers.
