Driven by the mechanical design, manufacturing technology, optoelectronictechnique, and automatic control technology, the printing technology has been incontinuous development on modern society. With the rapid development of thecomputer technology and information network technology and maturing of variableprinting technology and equipment, a systematic, standardized, streamlined, digitaland network have matured in printing technology. As modern offset press isdeveloping toward high-speed and steadiness, high-speed multi-color, high-speedflexible, digital network, integration of operation and management, automatic controltechnology, safety and good environmental, higher and higher demands are raised tothe offset press ink control system.This paper studies the development of four-color offset printing press pre-inksystem, and suggests improvements of the design to pre-ink system at this laboratory.This system eventually achieved to read, display, modify and save functions for theJDF documents and management and preservation of the data in JDF file. JDF file isthe standard printing format of the current mainstream development direction. Themodule development of JDF Inks Preset System (DIPS-Digital Ink Preset System)and analyze and preset to Ink information of JDF documents were achieved.Firstly, this paper suggests improvements for program design of pre-ink systemon the four-color offset printing press, that is, the two functions module “operationsmanagement” and “ink zone control” of pre-ink system. Functional designcorresponding to a mainstream digital printing process was established—thecorresponding function design of JDF, which would have a good guide for real-timecontrol of digital printing and future printing production.Secondly, the basic technologies on digital printing system were introducedincluding XML technology, the JDF standards, including XML technical features,principles, the JDF document structure, workflow resources, the implementation ofthe model and the state of resources and node. Offset press equipment interfacefunctions and technology of JDF summons processing technology DOM wereanalyzed. It was achieved that read, display, modify and save function online oroffline making use of DOM interface technology, standard operating format JDFdocument raised by CIP4organization was analyzed. Next, the analysis and extraction of the ink information in the JDF document wasrealized and it was used for pre-adjusting values of ink keys on the four-color offsetprinting press in order to achieve the ink preset before boot. This method is of greathelp in improving the printing ink preset efficiency and provides effective researchmethod for reading JDF document data.Finally, pre-ink system was developed based on the Microsoft Visual C++6.0computer application software development platform. The four-color offset printingpress PC pre-ink system was developed based on the JDF document and the twofunctional modules “Operations Management” and “Ink Control” were improved. Itcan improve automation of four-color offset press ink preset and the marketcompetitiveness of PC pre-ink system in four-color offset press ink preset.
