In recent years with the development of modern industry, there had been a lot of achievements in textile industry. But there is a wide gap compared with the advanced technology of textile around the world. So this dissertation analyzed the characteristic of the natural raw silk which an important raw material in the textile industry and the defects of existent performance to characterize fineness of raw silk. Some of correlative theories were analyzed too. In the dissertation a dynamic measuring system for fineness of raw silk was developed with computer, which measuring fineness of raw silk with the cross-sectional area. The system could dynamically measure the fineness of raw silk. The correlative experimental and analysis researches for the cross-sectional area of raw silk were finished by the system. The guide line of having certain reference and instruction was gained for evaluating the performance of the silk.The system, named computer-based dynamic measuring system for fineness of raw silk, consists of the luminescence source for illuminating the raw silk and micro-imaging system. It adopted much of key technology such as CCD sensing, image processing based two-value, data acquisition, computer technology etc. It implemented the dynamic and real-time measuring for the cross-sectional area of raw silk. And it also achieved the purpose to automatically measure the silk fineness including other correlative parameters and to gain the performance of the silk.The principle of the computerized measuring system for raw silk fineness and the total design of the system consisted of hardware and software were detail expatiated in the dissertation. Through the experimental study the design of the system was finally proved feasible and effective to dynamic measure raw silk fineness. The results are of great worth for advancing the competing position of our country in the silk industry around the world.
