Molded pulp pallet is a kind of new green material pallet. Due to its favorableloading capacity, light weight, cheap price and many other advantages, it is a perfectsubstitute of wood pallet, and it will develop well in package domain. Recent researchon small size molded pulp products already have gotten some successes, however theresearch on the molded pulp products which is overloaded is at the initial stage evenon molded pulp pallets.Based on molded pulp material, in order to develop large-scale pallet products,this paper researched the material property, loading capacity, and structure of moldedpulp pallets by FEM virtual simulation and experiment. The main research contentsinclude the following aspects:(1) The mechanical property parameter of paper pulp was tested by experiment,providing the basis for virtual simulation.(2) Established the simplified pallet leg mold, researched the mold withdifferent thickness by the FEM nonlinear buckle analysis, forecasting the failure formand loading capacity of the legs.(3) Simulated and analyzed the elastic-plastic deformation and loading capacityof the pallet structure when it is in static load situation, compared the result withcompression test of the specimen, then it shows they are match well.(4) Drop impact deformation of the molded pulp pallet was researched bysimulation and test of pallets angle falling and loaded standard falling. High speedphotograph and digital image correlation method was used in this analyze, during thefalling process the maximum deformation and plastic deformation was given, thencompared the result with FEM dynamic simulation result, confirmed FEM is feasibleto use FEM in this study, it will provide guidance for further development in moldedpulp pallet design.(5) According to the simulation and study, optimized the structure of the pallet,forming two new structure pallets, and then analyzed their loading capacity, raisedoptimization method to increase the loading capacity of molded pulp pallet.
