At the present stage, the design and manufacturing process of the hydraulic support are separated. After getting the drawings, the processing designers are usually to design the processing and the NC programming according to own experience. The processing design is deeply depended on the technology and experience of the designers. Then the process plan is seriously lagging behind and is inefficient. To improve the level of the processing design and to shorten the processing cycle, it is necessary to integrate the design and manufacture effectively.The design and process of the hydraulic support cylinder series are studied in the thesis. According to the parts structure, the processing and programming methods, the manufacturing features of the cylinders are extracted and inducted to meet the product modeling with the Group Technology. According to the actual manufacturing process, the3D modeling of the hydraulic cylinders is developed by using the manufacture features as the basic units. On the basis of the user’s input parameters, the rapid parametric modeling of the3D model is realized by designing the interface in the VC++.Net software.Because the3D model is set up by the actual machining process and the manufacturing feature, the processing decision-making of the product element is simplified to be a processing decision of the manufacture feature. After obtaining the manufacturing feature information, the manufacturing feature can make the processing decision automatically on the processing database. The processing method, equipment, the cutting tools, the cutting parameters and other processing data are achieved. Using the feature returning technique, the processing chart related to the3D model sizes can be made out automatically and rapidly.Finally, the NC programming and simulation of the manufacturing features are carried out by the processing data of the CAPP system in the CAM module. The design and manufacturing process of the hydraulic support are integrated rapidly and efficiently on this platform. And the parametric design, the processing design and the NC code automatic generation of some parts are implemented. The design data of the hydraulic support can be managed conveniently and rapidly.The project research provides an effective method for the hydraulic support design and manufacturing and has the comparatively significant direction and the practical value.
