In the most mechanical transmission, the ordinary V-belt pulley is the most common transmission mode, which has been widely used in various types of machinery. The belt pulley of aluminum has less weight and more transmission stability than that of cast iron or steel, which makes a contribution to increasing the machine speed and reducing the energy consumption.The alloy belt pulley has been widely applied to the field of automobile and agricultural machinery instead of cast iron or steel.The alloy belt pulley is usually molded by the way of pressure casting in the actual production. Pressure casting costs less metal and higher precision formed.The paper mainly used the Computer Aided Design technology to complete the analysis, calculations, part modeling, data storage and output,etc. The pulley die-casting mold CAD system which is created by UG software as a designing platform can increase the productive efficiency and quality as well as improve the working condition for mold designers.Firstly, the paper take advantage of the re-development tool UG/OPEN of UG to design the system menu and the parameter input dialog. Adopting the way of building the dll to call the MFC, so that the database dialog interface of parts can be built. Secondly,depending on the MFC ODBC technology and Access2007, the database management system was built. Through ODBC class member functions, the program has a access to data source, and would display the record setting on the dialog controll list. Finally, the introduction of paramentric modeling idea is used for drawing the mold component. Functions provided by UF is applied to mapping data, outputting and updating three dimensional solid models.Among them, the expression of UG tool is applied to drawing mold parts. It can control multiple dimensions parameters and their mtual constraints. Different models but same type and size of parts through parameter-driven way to update the parts.Using the database management software of Access2007can meet the designers to add and modify parts data.The mold CAD system has the following function:3D solid modeling of the pulley parts, the choice of die-casting machine and casting materials, by acccessing the database to quickly generate the mold component models.The user can operate the system to creat the pulley mold of the gating system, the classification of slider, molding inserts, cores, mold introduced institutions and mold parts. Commissioning show that the software has a simple dialog interface and the program operates stably and reliably. It can be widely used in actual production.
