The sun light gives us colorful world and there are plenty of life on earth. But the sun lightcontains ultraviolet light which could not only hurt the health of human body, but also cause thedegradation of materials, such as fibers, polymers and textiles. The dyed textile may be fadedduring its wearing because of photochemical reaction occurred under light, heat, humidity andother factors. The application of UV absorbers on textiles, for example the dyeing of UVabsorber onto polyester fabrics, could not only has a stabilizing ability on the fabrics, but alsoimprove the UV protection of the polyester fabrics on human body.To improve the light fastness of dyed polyester fabrics, UV absorber was prepared as apromoting agent and then dyed on polyester together with disperse dyes. The hydrophobic UVabsorbers used on polyester fabric need to be prepared as dispersion. If the dispersion stability isnot good enough, it bring a lot of inconvenience in practical application. In order to solve thisproblem, two methods are proposed. The first one is to optimize preparation processing for UVabsorbers to form a stable dispered aqueous solution. The other is to develop a spray dryingprocessing to form dispered powder by refering the commercialization process of disperse dyes.At first, wet sand milling process was adopted to prepare initial dispersion of UV absorbers.And then the initial dispersion with surfactant S was dealed by high speed shearing treatment toprepare the final stable dispersion of UV absorbers. Several processing condition, such as amoutof surfactant, high speed shearing system temperature and treatment time were investigated. Inaddition, These factors impacted on stability of aqueous dispersion discussed. On this basis, thebest preparation process of the stable dispersion was obtained by the orthogonal designedexperiment. And application performance of the optimized UV absorbers dispersed liquid wasstudied. The experimental results show that high speed shearing treatment with surfactant S notonly makes the dispersion more stable, but also improves the dye uptake of UV absobers onpolyester fabrics.Secondly, dispersing agent NNO and MF were bring in our wet sand milling process. Thenthe dispersion of UV absorbers was dryed to powder of UV absorbers by spray drying machine.Several factors, such as speed of pray injection, air velocity and inlet temperature were investigated. Meanwhie, the effect of these conditions on the powder dispersion’s yield weredeliberated. On this basis, the best preparation process of the powder pispersion was acquired bythe orthogonal designed experiment of spray drying. UV absorbers powder prepared by the bestprocess conditions alone and together with disperse dye in one dyeing bath on polyester fabricwere studied.Finally, we select the dispersion A′, dispersion E′, powder A and powder D together withdisperse dye in one dyeing bath on polyester fabric. The effects on the light fastness of dyedpolyester fabrics were examined. The experimental results show that the UV absorbersdispersion and powder improve light fastnes of three disperse dyes.
