Basic Research Of Chemical Product Family Based On Two-dimensional Hierarchical Model

In order to take full advantage of existing enterprise resources, seizemarket opportunities and avoid market risks, Chemical companies shouldmake rational plan for product type, quantity and combination, then,make organic combination for the length, width and depth of the entireproduct line. To solve this problem chemical product engineering hasgradually become a research focus in chemical industry. In this paper,product family is introduced into the field of chemical productengineering. It is used for the design and development process, and it hasgreat significance to promote the innovation capability of China’schemical products and enhance the competitiveness of China’s chemicalproducts in the international market. So far, there is no literaturesintroduce product family into chemical product engineering, therefore,this study has very important academic value and practical significance.The main work of this article is as followings:Firstly, the paper introduces the idea of product family into chemicalproduct engineering, propose he concept of chemical product family. Secondly, the paper makes classification of the chemical productfamily based on the five aspects, for example, performance, uses,specifications, formulations and so on. The paper also summed up thecharacteristics of the chemical product family, and then take the1,4-butanediol products for example.Thirdly, the paper proposes two-dimensional hierarchical model.The constitution dimension includes chemical component, chemicalproduct and chemical product family; the process dimension includescustomer demand, principle of function, physical structure and processcomposition.Fourthly, the paper study the evolutionary process of chemicalproduct family from three levels includes chemical product, chemicalproduct platform and chemical product family, and then, we takecephalosporins for example to make further study.
