The plane-quadratic-envelope annular worm gear pair is a kind of worm and wormwheel gear, it is a transmission-mechanism used to transfer the motion of the space crossedaxes and the dynamic motion of mechanism. It has many advantages such as multi toothmeshing,instantaneous doublet contact,strong bearing capacity and so on. So it is extremelyconsistent with the modern mechanical demand of overload and high speed, so it has beenwidely used in general machinery,metallurgical industry,petrochemical machinery and others.As the plane-quadratic-envelope annular worm processing is very difficult, mainly inthe process it has its own unique formula, needs some calculations, and require the NC systemoperation with high capacity requirements, but the existing system has limitations in thisarea.In order to improve the machining precision and processing efficiency of theplane-quadratic-envelope annular worm and reduce the processing cost,the processingequipment and processing method research and development has become the very importantwork.This article makes reference to relevant research results, and adopts a virtual center forthe principle of Four-Axis-Interpolation NC system to complete precise processing of theworm. In this paper it makes a detailed analysis of the worm,the forming principle ofFour-Axis-Interpolation motion process, machining center virtual principle, and discusses theworm processing method and processing equipment, and ultimately determines the NCprocessing method, and developes a master-slave architecture of open CNC system.Based onthe analysis of processing method and principle,it establishes the conversion from geometricparameter of the worm gear to the processing code, and completes the design of hardwaresystem and software system.This system adopts the advanced control software technology,can use computer to realize some system management function like the input/output, programediting, Combined with the TRIO digital motion control card, it completes some real-timecontrol tasks,such as decoding, interpolation, position control and so on.The system improvesits dynamic response ability, simultaneously it has good real-time performance.
