Although the implementation of the western development strategy speeds up thewestern resources utilization, the social and economic development and the overall cityconstruction, it also leads to some environmental issues, such as the pollution control ofthe municipal solid waste. Rough poor waste disposal facilities and unscientific wastemanagement system are unable to satisfy the current requirements of the socio-economicsustainable development in the western region. Faced with this situation, the west needs toput it on the agenda to manage and dispose the waste management scientifically.This paper summarizes the successful experience in waste disposal and the methodsof our current treatment and disposal, furthermore, it compares the four main disposalmethods. On this basis, it analyzes the western region of China’s urban population,economy as well as climate conditions, and so on, and demonstrates the disposal patterns,Wu Zhong City of Ningxia, for example. Grey prediction model and analogy analysismethod are used to forecast the amount and the composition of urban living waste of thiscity in nearly30years, which will provide basis for waste disposal mode selection inmedium and small cities of the western region. Then, fuzzy comprehensive evaluationmodel was used to establish an evaluation model by selecting13indexes to get acomprehensive analysis from the economic, environmental, social, and technological fouraspects respectively. Accordingly, make an appropriate mode for urban waste disposal inWu Zhong city.
