Piston is the key part to the engine performance and there is still no CNC system forlarge-size ship piston machining at home.This paper aims at high-speed,high-precisionpiston turning and made a systematic study of the key theories and techniques for varyingellipse piston turning.The main work are as follows:Designed the overall program of varying ellipse piston turning CNC system, includinganalysis of piston processing technology, mechanical design of the lathe, analysis ofhigh-frequency linear servo motor and drive control, the design of mathematical model for thepiston section,the design of interface of the standard CNC system.Based on the characteristics and requirements of the varying ellipse piston CNClathe,the paper developed the device driver and user program of linear servo card in Windowssystem and embedded it into HNC-8CNC system,which eventually made the CNC systemcould control the high-frequency sound coil motor by the linear servo card for processingpiston control; programmed a good interactive interface that allows users to read linear servocard processing information.According to the built-in PLC structure of HNC-8CNC system, this paper achieved theI/O signal control of the piston lathe by ladder diagram programming and added custom Mcode to control the linear servo control card.Using the IPC as the hardware platform and based on the HNC-8CNC system, thispaper achieved the varying ellipse piston turning CNC system by the use of upper and lowercomputer and applied it to the practical piston machining successfully.
