With the rapid development of the economic society and expanding populations,more and more sanitary waste and industrial wastewater were poured into river. As aresult, the ecosystems of rivers which are closely related to human life are graduallydegraded, especially the urban rivers. Therefore, it is extremely urgent to improve thewater quality and ecological remediation of urban rivers.The technology of artificial plants is a new and efficient biofilm wastewatertreat-mental technique and has the advantages of low in investment, no secondarypollution, no limited to clarity and illumination. This paper was based on theimportant national science&technology water specific projects-“water qualityimprovement techniques in Tuhai river and Majia river basin(2012ZX07209-004):River ecological restoration and self-purification ability strengthen techniques”. Onthe basis of the review of urban river sewage disposal technology and present researchand application situation of artificial plants, we study the degradation ability onpollutions of different kinds of artificial plants through indoor experiment, and thenscreen out the best type of artificial plants and the best running proportion. Finally weconduct a preliminary application in Yanhuang River. At last, we researched that thetechnology of artificial which is appropriate for ecological remediation of urban rivers,and then providing data to support to the application. The main research results andconclusions of this paper are as follows:Firstly,4kinds of artificial plants were selected through laboratory experiment.The results showed, Aqua Mats of artificial plants of the removal rate of the COD,ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus were83.1%,61.6%,48.2%,58.1%respectively;Superfine stereoscopic fibre of the removal rate of the COD, ammonia nitrogen, totalphosphorus were77.1%,47.8%,40.5%,49.0%; The string artificial plants of5cm ofthe removal rate of the COD, ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus were88.6%,63.3%,45.0%,58.5%; The string artificial plants of10cm of the removal rate of theCOD, ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus were85.5%,69.8%,47.5%,67.4%. Inconclusion, the best comprehensive removal efficiency were the string artificial plantsof10cm, followed by the string artificial plants of5cm, and furthermore is Aqua Matsof artificial plants, and Superfine stereoscopic fibre was the worst. Meanwhile, combining with their own performance and economic cost, the string artificial plantsof10cm was chose as the experimental material in the next step.Secondly, the best running proportion of the string artificial plants of10cm wastested. Two experiments were carried, and the water used in the test were slightlypolluted water and artificial wastewater. The string artificial plants of10cm werecropped to50cm,100cm,150cm and200cm, and each of them were placed in thesewage to carry experiment.(1) In the experiment of slightly polluted wastewater,COD removal efficiencies of different proportion of the string artificial plants of10cm are77.6%,78.3%,68.5%,71.1%in turn; ammonia nitrogen removalefficiencies are71.5%,73.5%,68.6%,60%in turn; TP removal efficiencies are61.3%,57.5%,52.8%,47.6%in turn.(2) In the experiment of artificial wastewater, CODremoval efficiencies are87.4%,89.6%,86.5%,86.1%in turn; ammonia nitrogenremoval efficiencies are80.4%,86.9%,83.2%,75.1%; TP removal efficiencies are69.8%,66.6%,55.8%,58.6%. Compared the two experiments results and concluded:the best running proportion of the string artificial plants of10cm was100cm, whereas20Lwater.Eventually, the ecotope and the present situations of Yanhuang River wereinvestigated and carried an primary applied research. The results shown, artificialplants on the river pollutants had higher removal efficiencies. The COD removalefficiencies are from3.7%~19.63%, and the ammonia nitrogen removal efficienciesare from4.85%~30.79%. But as a result of water temperature and retention time, andthere are many uncertain and uncontrollable factors in addition, the COD andammonia nitrogen removal efficiencies of river experiment are lower than it in indoorexperiment. Whatever, it is observed that the purification of the polluted water of thetechnology of artificial plants in urban river has a certain effect and promotionprospects.
